Geographical Indication Approval for Ağrı Geven Honey

Ağrı Geven Honey, which flows from the high-altitude plateaus of Ağrı and carries the scent of the geven plant, is approaching a new milestone to gain the recognition it deserves on the international stage. In 2022, with the support of the Serhat Development Agency, a geographical indication registration was obtained on behalf of the Ağrı Province Beekeepers Association, and the application process for European Union Geographical Indication Registration has been initiated for this special honey. As part of the application process, a protocol was signed with the participation of Nurullah Karaca, Secretary General of the Serhat Development Agency, Mehmet Hüseyinoğlu, Director of Agriculture and Forestry of Ağrı Province, and Taha Karakoç, Deputy Chairman of the Ağrı Province Beekeepers Association.
