1,000 Tons of Honey Export Targeted from Ordu

Ordu aims to export 1,000 tons of honey this year; the beekeeping sector makes a significant contribution to the economy. Ordu, which ranks first in honey production in Turkey, has an annual average honey production of 13,000 tons. The Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Kemal Yılmaz, stated that over 640,000 hives are being operated by 3,500 registered beekeepers in the city. The beekeeping sector contributes approximately 2.5 billion Turkish Lira to the local economy, and an increase in exports is expected.
