Beekeeping in the Village: Berrin Şako's Peaceful Life

Berrin Şako discovered beekeeping after moving from Istanbul to Kömürköy and is living a peaceful life. About 10 years ago, while on vacation in the Kıyıköy town of the Vize district, she was so taken by Kömürköy that she decided to live there. Encouraged by her sister, Şako took her first steps into beekeeping and now produces geographically marked oak honey with a production that has reached 35 hives in the "honey forests" of the Forest Management Directorate.
