A Substitute for Pollen for Comprehensive Bee Feeding Introduced

A Belgian-American research consortium has introduced a pollen substitute that, they claim, allows bees to survive in total absence of this nutrient source. The product is designed for colonies under significant nutritional stress. Pollen is a key food source in bee colonies. Without a supply of high-quality pollen, nurse bees lack the necessary protein to rear the brood, and the hive quickly weakens. Beekeepers often use pollen substitutes in the form of protein patties, which serve to complement the bees' diet at specific times.
