Beekeeper from Van Renewed His Hives and Increased Their Numbers with State Support

Alihan Baran, a 55-year-old beekeeper from Van, renewed all his hives and increased their number to 500 with state support since he started beekeeping in 2005. Living in the Süphan neighborhood of Edremit district, Baran began beekeeping under the guidance of his brother. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Baran, who was beekeeping in Mersin, increased his hive count from 20 to 279 and brought his hives to Van and Siirt due to transportation difficulties. By applying to the Agricultural and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK) and receiving a grant, Baran replaced all his hives with new ones and raised their number to 500.
