BeeSense: a proposal to create the most complete smart and digital hive

In recent years, concepts such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things have become frequent and popular in beekeeping. Now, a team of Indian scientists presents the BeeSense project, a prototype of a smart and connected hive that digitalizes all colony management. We explain what it consists of. The term precision beekeeping is no longer rare for any beekeeper. It refers to a set of techniques that include the connectivity, sensorization, and even robotization of hives. It is a management approach based on new technologies and the availability of real-time data provided by all kinds of devices installed in the colonies, from smart scales to microphones.
