Bee Disturbance in Many Districts of Istanbul

The instinct of bees to reproduce has caused them to leave their hives and gather in trees and buildings, creating unease. For the period known as 'swarming', Dr. Fatih Dikmen, a faculty member in the Biology Department at Istanbul University, stated, "We can observe an increase in the number of bees during May and June, and as a result, behaviors such as swarming. It is a bit surprising to see this in Istanbul because normally beekeeping is not practiced much in urban areas. There are still people doing this work in rural areas. During swarming periods, they can escape from there and cluster in the gardens, rooftops, and trees of various houses."
