Years of melipona honey production occur repeatedly. It is important to be prepared for this situation. Therefore, I consciously use frames without wire in the honey super. I describe how these are constructed in the April issue of bienen&natur starting on page 24. The foundation is not wired in but glued instead. For this, the top and bottom bars must have grooves, with the upper one being slightly deeper. This is important: I insert the foundation at the top and then simply let it fall into the lower groove. Theoretically, the foundation would hold in the frame already – completely without wire. To ensure it doesn't pop out, I secure it at the bottom with a bit of liquid wax.
