The tool helps protect beehives from fires, droughts, heavy rains, snow, theft, and other climatic events. Beekeepers using INDAP can access a complementary subsidy that significantly lowers the insurance policy cost. In light of increasing extreme weather events and risks to beekeeping, the Ministry of Agriculture (Minagri) and Agroseguros are urging producers to enroll in the state-subsidized Beekeeping Insurance, which safeguards hives against natural disasters and other contingencies, ensuring the continuity of this vital activity for food production and biodiversity. The insurance is available from the Coquimbo Region to the Los Lagos Region, with a base subsidy from Agroseguros covering 40% of the policy's value. Additionally, INDAP users can receive a complementary subsidy that may cover up to 75% of the unsubsidized amount, greatly reducing the final cost for producers.
