Texas Highway Overrun by Bees Following 18-Wheeler Accident with Hives

On June 21, 2026, approximately 2 million bees escaped when an 18-wheeler transporting hives overturned in Orange County, Texas. Residents were advised to remain indoors while beekeepers worked to relocate the hives to a nearby honey farm. Queen Bee Supply LLC noted on Facebook the collaborative efforts of beekeepers during this incident.
The Orange County Emergency Services District 4 reported a significant number of bees in the area following the accident. The truck, carrying 50,000 pounds of bees, overturned when the driver failed to navigate a turn properly, as reported by KBTX. Although the driver was unharmed, a photographer from CBS affiliate KFDM-TV was stung once while covering the event.
