Halil İbrahim Saruhan, a beekeeper in Rize, has devised an innovative solution to protect his hives from bear attacks. He has elevated his hives to a height of about 5 meters on the exterior of his home, utilizing a self-made elevator system for maintenance. This method has garnered attention in Çayeli, where bear encounters have previously damaged his hives.

In the Eastern Black Sea region, bears emerging from hibernation often venture into residential areas in search of food, posing a threat to beehives. After experiencing two bear attacks, Saruhan developed a unique approach by enhancing a previously built lift to place his hives on a wooden platform outside his home. He now accesses the hives using his elevator for upkeep.
