In Çatak, the local beekeeping association aims to increase honey production to 500 tons annually with the support of 800 additional hives. Semo, the newly elected president of the Çatak Beekeepers Union, stated that 200 beekeepers currently manage 40,000 hives in the region, particularly around the Kato Mountain foothills. Having grown up alongside his father, who led the union for 20 years, Semo dedicates much of his time to hive maintenance and transporting hives to the blooming pastures of Kato Mountain.
