Asiatic Black Bear Moved Following Multiple Beehive Incidents

An Asiatic black bear, notorious for raiding beekeeping operations for honey over several years, has been relocated to a protected facility. The Korea National Park Service reported capturing the bear on June 16, as it had been causing significant damage to local apiaries, and moved it to an ecological learning center. This female bear, born in Korea in 2011, had invaded apiaries 14 times from 2018 to last year. Despite being relocated away from human habitats in 2018 and 2020, it repeatedly returned to the area to target beekeeping farms. The Korea National Park Service stated, "We determined that the individual had lost its wild instincts, so we retrieved it to prevent conflicts with humans."
