Number of beekeepers in Dobrich is decreasing significantly

In the Dobrich region, over 150 beekeepers have exited the industry in the past two years. Meanwhile, those who remain are expanding their bee colonies to offset low honey prices. Galin Georgiev, chairman of the “Bee Dobrich 1946” association, warns that this trend threatens both the beekeeping sector and the environment. Many individuals who managed up to 100 hives have ceased operations, while professional beekeepers are increasing their colonies due to insufficient income from sales.
