Number of beekeepers in Dobrich declines by fifty percent

In the past two years, over 150 beekeepers in the Dobrich region have exited the industry. Meanwhile, remaining professional beekeepers are expanding their colonies to offset low honey prices. Galin Georgiev, chairman of the “Bee Dobrich 1946” association, warns that this trend threatens both the beekeeping sector and the environment. Many individuals managing around a hundred hives have quit, while those who persist are increasing their colonies due to insufficient income from low purchase prices.
