In Kayseri's İncesu district, 36-year-old Zehra Kocabaş, a mother battling both heart disease and breast cancer, turned to beekeeping after discovering that bee venom could aid in her treatment. Noting a family history of heart and cancer issues, she felt compelled to pursue beekeeping after learning about the potential benefits of bee venom in scientific studies.

After suffering a heart attack and being diagnosed with cancer, Kocabaş began researching treatment options. In April of this year, she decided to start beekeeping, initially with 60 hives, which she quickly expanded to 100. Her goal is to increase her hive count to 500.
