Bees attack and kill dog near Deerfield Beach residence.

In Deerfield Beach, Florida, Brian De Jesus and his family had lived with a beehive near their home for over a year without incident. However, after using a lavender-scented disinfectant on their patio in early July, they were suddenly swarmed by bees. De Jesus was stung more than 20 times, and his 12-year-old pug, Max, was overwhelmed by the swarm and died later that day. The family's other dog, Maggie, was also attacked but survived after receiving treatment. De Jesus noted that they had delayed removing the hive, believing the bees would not bother them if left undisturbed.
