As of July 16, 2026, over 3,800 organized beekeepers in the country manage approximately 40,000 hives, producing more than 800,000 kilograms of honey annually. This activity supports thousands of families and contributes to rural economic development. To enhance this sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) is implementing a technical assistance and training program through the National Agro-Food Development Program (Pronagro) aimed at improving hive management, increasing productivity, and ensuring higher quality honey.
