Art installation aims to draw in pollinating insects

A new sculpture aimed at raising awareness of declining bee populations will be installed at Penleigh Park in Westbury, Wiltshire. Created by Dorset artist Brendon Murless, the 7ft (220cm) 'Penleigh Queen Bee' will be made from clay, steel, and logs, featuring holes for bees to inhabit. Murless hopes to provide a "moment of calm" for park visitors while inspiring reflection on the importance of bees and our connection to them. His design was selected through a public vote for a nature-themed statue in the park.
