A Beekeeper Returns to Their Roots

Jamie Ellis, a prominent honey bee scientist, is set to return to the University of Georgia (UGA) as the new director of the UGA Bee Lab this June. He previously built a successful honey bee program at the University of Florida, resulting in nearly 1,000 publications and over $9.3 million in grants. Ellis expressed mixed feelings about leaving Florida but is excited about UGA's commitment to enhancing its honey bee program.
