Karine Pouliquen, the lead volunteer at the California Master Beekeeper Program's bee extension center and an educator at the University of California's South Coast Research and Extension Center (SCREC), received recognition for the apiary's ten years of service from Wendy Mather, co-director of the program at UC Davis. Amidst the buzzing of thousands of bees, the SCREC apiary in Irvine celebrated a decade of community service and education, attended by around 50 participants, including volunteers and specialists from UC Davis. For many, the event was a reunion of those who have built a community focused on beekeeping.
