On July 30, 2026, beekeeper Ziya Sarıoğlu captured footage of a protected weasel pup at Ilgaz Mountain. While checking his hives at the 1,900-meter-high Hacettepe Summit, located on the Kastamonu-Chankırı border, Sarıoğlu encountered the weasel. He recorded the moment as the startled animal quickly ran away. Sarıoğlu mentioned he had previously seen six weasels, stating, "I work with bees in the Ilgaz Mountains. When I approached my hives, I noticed six weasels, but I couldn't film them. Later, I saw one trying to enter the apiary. It got scared, and so did I, as it attempted to leap towards me."
