Beekeeping contributes over 61,000 tons of honey annually, generating an estimated economic value exceeding 2.3 billion pesos. Federal Deputy Emilio Lara Calderón has introduced a tax reform initiative aimed at providing economic support to Mexican beekeepers, enhancing their income and acknowledging the strategic importance of beekeeping for food security, rural economy, and environmental conservation. The PRI legislator noted that this proposal seeks to assist a historically overlooked agricultural sector, despite beekeeping's role in producing honey, royal jelly, propolis, wax, and pollen, as well as its critical function in pollinating crops and ecosystems.
