South Coast REC Apiary Marks a Decade of Achievements

Surrounded by the buzz of bees, open hives, and volunteers in protective gear, the OC Bee Team apiary at the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources South Coast Research and Extension Center celebrated its 10th anniversary. The event gathered volunteers, specialists, and UC Davis representatives, serving as a reunion for those dedicated to honeybee care. Apiary Manager Karine Pouliquen received recognition for the milestone from Wendy Mather, Co-manager of the California Master Beekeeper Program. This teaching apiary in Irvine is vital for hands-on beekeeping education, where participants learn about bee behavior, colony health, and the importance of pollinators.
