In Afyonkarahisar, efforts are underway to monitor and update the presence of beehives to ensure the proper conduct of beekeeping activities. FADİME YILDIRIM 12.08.2026 - 14:25 Teams from the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry are inspecting the beehives of both local and foreign migratory beekeepers. As part of the Beekeeping Regulation, the annual hive count and assessment, required in May and October, are ongoing, with teams also evaluating the overall condition of the hives. During these inspections, beekeepers are informed about combating Varroa mites, which can lead to productivity losses and diseases in bee colonies. The teams aim to ensure that beekeepers take necessary precautions for healthy and sustainable beekeeping practices. These efforts aim to maintain an updated record of beehive populations and support the beekeeping sector across the province.
