Bitlis Eren University (BEÜ) is actively working to enhance beekeeping, a significant economic asset for the region, and to scientifically validate the quality of Bitlis honey, which has received geographical indication status. The university's Beekeeping and Bee Products Development, Application, and Research Center has expanded its apiary from 30 to 250 hives, and the first honey harvest of the season has been completed. In addition to honey production, the university is also focusing on queen bee breeding, with plans to support local producers in the future.
