Belarmino Álvarez, at 63, is nearing retirement from managing his beehives but will remain involved in beekeeping. He plans to transfer around 400 hives to a successor while continuing to support aspiring beekeepers at the Cuyences school apiary in Naranco. His operation in San Cipriano de Pando will be handed over to Jacobo Soria, a 31-year-old beekeeper he met years ago in Argentina during their training in apiculture. The official transition will occur on Tuesday in Oviedo, coinciding with the announcement of succession aid from the Principality.
