Beekeepers must register with the Veterinary Department between August 24 and September 4 to receive support under the Direct Income Support program. The Veterinary Department stated that businesses without registration will not be allowed to sell honey to ensure food safety and hygiene from hive to table. Additionally, businesses that do not engage in beekeeping but only buy and sell honey are also required to register. These businesses must obtain a "Honey Production Permit" and/or "Packaging Permit" from the Veterinary Department.
