Bees face significant challenges alongside declining bird populations.

Beekeeper Mat Stafa is cautious about disclosing the precise location of his hives, only revealing that they are situated in the lower Hunter Valley. Every few years, the spotted gums in the area bloom unexpectedly late in the season, providing his bees with essential nourishment to thrive through winter. In between these flowering events, he cultivates a good relationship with the landowner by gifting jars of fresh honey, ensuring he retains access to this valuable land while waiting for the eucalypts to flower.
