Beekeepers raise alarm about Asian hornets, urge UK awareness initiative.

Beekeepers in the UK are urging for a national awareness campaign regarding the Asian hornet, an invasive species that threatens pollinators and food security. The yellow-legged hornet, native to southeast Asia, is believed to have entered Europe in 2004 and has proliferated, likely due to warmer seasons. As summer ends, hornet colonies grow, producing new queens that will mate and seek winter survival, leading to the establishment of new colonies in spring.
