Date: 10.09.2026 11:40 Van is aiming to become Turkey's honey hub with a target of 180,000 hives. AK Party Van Deputy Kayhan Türkmenoğlu visited beekeepers in the Çatak district who have begun honey harvesting. During the visit to the high-altitude areas around 2,700 meters, the advantages of Van's rich flora and diverse plant life for beekeeping were discussed.

In Çatak, Türkmenoğlu examined the current state of honey production and received insights from 24-year-old Tekin Semo, newly elected president of the Çatak Beekeepers Association. He emphasized the importance of young producers continuing family traditions in beekeeping, noting that engaging youth in agricultural activities is crucial for the region's agricultural future.
