Insecticide Application Leads to Total Bee Colony Loss in Malta

A bee colony was completely destroyed after an individual reportedly sprayed the insects with household insecticide before a pest control team could assess the situation. A Maltese pest control company, in partnership with the Foundation for the Conservation of the Maltese Honey Bee, received an urgent call on Tuesday evening about a suspected insect invasion. However, a neighbor intervened and allegedly sprayed the bees before the professionals could inspect them. Upon inspection, the company found the colony devastated, with both the bees and the area emitting a strong odor of a common household insecticide.
