According to SEO/BirdLife, the impact of the European bee-eater on beehives is minimal, based on various studies conducted in Spain. The conservation organization emphasizes that the common bee-eater is a strictly protected species in Europe and that preventive measures exist to mitigate potential interactions with beekeeping. These statements come after agricultural organizations publicly suggested actions to reduce the population of this migratory bird. SEO/BirdLife warns that any measures must comply with current legislation and be based on scientific criteria.
