Beekeepers urge implementation of support measures during crisis.

The recent meeting at MAIA addressed proposals from sector associations aimed at revitalizing Moldova's beekeeping industry, which has faced a severe crisis since 2025. According to the National Association of Beekeepers of the Republic of Moldova (ANARM), honey production in 2025 dropped to approximately 2,500 tonnes, a 50–55% decline from the previous year, marking the lowest yield in 15 years. The decline was primarily due to harsh frosts that damaged nectar-producing plants, resulting in no acacia honey and a 70% reduction in linden honey. Additionally, a summer drought and a rainy autumn weakened many bee colonies, leading to significant overwintering losses. Forecasts suggest that the 2026 honey harvest may not exceed 3,000 tonnes.
