Exploring the impact of a bee-less world on human survival.

Honeybees play a crucial role in agriculture beyond honey production, aiding in the cultivation of crops like almonds, apples, and avocados. Each year, millions of bees are transported to various farms for pollination. According to ecologist Yann Clough from Lund University, honeybees are treated as essential inputs, similar to fertilizers. However, these pollinators face numerous threats, including pesticides and diseases, which can lead to colony collapse. Clough suggests that while the loss of commercial honeybee colonies is concerning, wild pollinators could partially fill the gap, including around 25,000 species of wild bees and other insects.
