In Gümüşhane, beekeepers are increasingly facing issues with bears attacking their hives, particularly in the Vauk Mountain area. Cemil Altuntaş, a beekeeper from Geçit village, noted that while bear encounters were rare in the past, they have become more frequent over the last three years.

The rise in bear and wolf populations has reached a concerning level, exacerbated by the absence of other people in the mountains during the summer and restrictions on hunting. Beekeepers and local residents have reported both danger and financial losses due to these animal attacks.
