UL Lafayette excited by discovery of large beehive on campus

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette recently discovered a large beehive, estimated to weigh around 15 pounds, hanging from a camellia tree between Foster and Girard halls. Beekeeper Rachael Clayton, who was called to relocate the hive, estimated it contained approximately 65,000 bees. Clayton, a UL Lafayette alumna with a geology degree, noted that the hive's open-air nature indicates it formed during a dry spell without rain.
