The Varroa mite is a significant threat to honeybee populations globally, affecting larvae, pupae, and adult bees while also transmitting pathogens. Over 200 chemical and botanical treatments have been tested against varroatosis, alongside physical and zootechnical methods. It is crucial to rotate these treatments due to the emergence of resistant mite populations. Research by A.A. Zamaziya (1988) indicates that resistance to formic acid can develop within four years, with mites also becoming resistant to oxalic acid. Currently, beekeepers have learned to manage this disease effectively, maintaining low infestation levels using both imported and domestic products, particularly those based on synthetic pyrethroids (such as fluvalinate, flumethrin, and acrinathrin) and amitraz.
