This year’s mild weather has resulted in a significant honey harvest in Romania, with an increase of 7,000 tons compared to last year, according to the Beekeepers Association. The rise is particularly notable for acacia honey, leading to expectations that prices may stabilize or even decrease. Some beekeepers have doubled their honey production compared to 2025.
Viorel Popa, who manages 500 bee colonies and sells honey online, has reduced the price of acacia honey to 50 lei per kilogram, down from 60 lei last year. He noted that prices are about 20-25% lower than last year. Another beekeeper, Alexandru Popa, anticipates that the price for acacia honey will drop to 36-40 lei in the next two months.
