Asian Hornet spotted for the first time this year in Cork

Beekeepers in Cork are on high alert following the first confirmed sighting of an Asian hornet near Ringaskiddy this year. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) issued a notice to local beekeeping organizations, as they have been monitoring this invasive species since last summer. Beekeepers play a crucial role in this effort, with volunteers actively checking traps for sightings, which help the NPWS locate potential nests.
