Recently, Asian hornets were spotted in the Gäsi area (press release dated August 31, 2026). The nest of this invasive species has since been located and effectively eradicated. The public is still encouraged to report any suspicious sightings of Asian hornets.

On September 5, 2026, local beekeepers successfully located the nest of the invasive species. By tracking the flight paths of the hornets from various locations, the area containing the nest was narrowed down. A systematic search was then conducted on foot and with a telephoto camera until the nest was found, situated in a birch tree approximately 15 meters high.
