Asian hornets are nesting in various locations across the Landes region, not just in trees. Increasingly, these insects are found in sheltered areas near the ground or even underground. Caution is advised when using brush cutters. In a social media video, hornet hunter Étienne Roumaillac warns that while 75% of nests are in trees, bushes can also conceal them. "There are no strict rules," he notes, indicating that nests can be located almost anywhere. He recounts an incident where a person was chased by hornets after accidentally disturbing a nest while clearing brush near a campsite close to Dax.
