Román Cid Álvarez, the founder of the Abellas Nais Beekeeping Association, passed away early Thursday, October 1. He was a significant figure in training and inspiring many generations of beekeepers. A wake is being held in room 2 of the Tanatorio das Burgas, where family, friends, and colleagues can pay their respects starting at 4:30 PM on Thursday and until 4:00 PM on Friday. In a public statement, the Abellas Nais Association honored Cid, expressing their sorrow: "With great sadness, we announce the passing of Román Cid Álvarez, our founder, fellow beekeeper, and a beloved figure in our community. Many generations took their first steps in beekeeping under his guidance, and with his death, we lose a vital part of our beekeeping history. However, his teachings, shared conversations, humor, and advice will remain with us. We will gather today at 4:30 PM and tomorrow until 4:00 PM at Tanatorio das Burgas #2 to bid him farewell.
