For the first time, an Asian hornet was spotted in Liechtenstein

For the first time, an Asian hornet was spotted in Liechtenstein. The dead specimen was found near the Schaan forest center (FL). This was reported on October 2, 2026, at 17:24 by Keystone-ATS.

It is currently unclear whether this sighting is isolated or if a nest is nearby, stated the Liechtenstein Office of Forests, Nature, and Agriculture, which has started investigations. Beekeepers and specialists have been informed and asked to monitor the situation closely. If more sightings occur, efforts will be made to locate and remove the nest to prevent further spread of the Asian hornet in Liechtenstein.
