A beekeeper from Zaporizhzhia region received a microgrant to modernize his apiary by purchasing new hives, frames, and an electric honey extractor, which automated honey harvesting and supported apiary development. This was reported by the Southern Development Strategy.
Serhiy Demchenko from Mykolay-Pole village independently manages his apiary and used to extract honey manually. Transport to Zaporizhzhia is limited, running only twice a week, and local sellers charge high prices, making local work and income essential for survival, he explained.
Participating in a training and grant program by the Southern Development Strategy, he received $1,500 in grant aid. With this, he bought 16 new hives, 300 frames, and a modern six-frame electric honey extractor.
