Herbert Gramsch puts on his orange protective suit and the sting-proof hood. As a member of the Albbruck Beekeepers Association, he is a certified and registered nest remover. Carefully, he guides an extendable lance through the branches of a 25-meter-high birch tree toward an Asian hornet nest.
Bernhard Heer from the Schlüchttal Beekeepers Association assists Gramsch in navigating the dense branches to reach the nest hanging at 22 meters. The sack-shaped brown hornet nest is nearly one meter tall and is surrounded by hornets.
