Wellington Bay Launches Urban Beekeeping and Wellness Program

Wellington Bay, a luxury senior living community, has partnered with urban beekeeping company Alvéole to introduce an on-site honeybee colony. This initiative integrates nature, interactive activities, and environmental sustainability for residents.

Alvéole manages the program, providing a living beehive, seasonal workshops led by certified beekeepers, and a digital platform to monitor local biodiversity. The project promotes resident engagement and environmental care within the community.

The hive introduction aligns with research showing beekeeping benefits mental health in older adults. A Temple University study highlighted therapeutic beekeeping as a tool for emotional wellness, mindfulness, and social connection among seniors.
