The Asian hornet (vespa velutina) has been detected for the first time in Liechtenstein

The Asian hornet (vespa velutina) has been detected for the first time in Liechtenstein. A dead specimen was found below the forestry depot in Schaan FL. According to a statement from the Office for Forest, Nature and Agriculture on Friday, it is unclear whether this is an isolated occurrence or if a nest exists nearby.
The office has immediately initiated investigations and is closely monitoring nearby apiaries. Experts and affected beekeepers have been informed and asked to remain vigilant. If further sightings occur, efforts will be made to locate and remove the nest to prevent spread.
