Königswinter · The association “Freie Bienen” offers a beginner course on honey bees starting in October in Königswinter. The course combines theory and practice with a focus on bee protection.

The honey bee, the smallest domesticated animal, performs various roles in the colony and collects nectar for about a teaspoon of honey during its short life. Andreas Scholz-Kessler, a beekeeper and member of the association, highlights the fascination of bees and the protection of wild honey bees.

The course costs 120 euros and is aimed not only at future honey producers but also at garden owners who want to provide a home for bees. The association prioritizes bee welfare over yield.
