The melipona is a native Mexican bee. A scientific outreach project by the Autonomous University of Nuevo León aims to bring knowledge about melipona bees to indigenous communities with ancestral honey production practices. This project was selected as a beneficiary of the 2025 Community Science and Humanities Outreach Call.
The initiative is part of a national program promoted by the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI), focused on strengthening society's right to access scientific knowledge through interdisciplinary community outreach projects.
